We Build as if Life Matters

Because it does.

SIREWALL is a complete wall system and has strengths comparable to high-strength concrete.

SIREWALL stands for Structural Insulated Rammed Earth.

Foster + Partner used SIREWALL as part of the structure for a Museum in France.

The Three Technical Phases of Rammed Earth Construction

Rammed earth construction exists in three distinct technical phases: Traditional Rammed Earth (TRE), Stabilized Rammed Earth (SRE), and Structural Insulated Rammed Earth (SIRE). These technical phases are fundamentally different and are not interchangeable.

TRE, Traditional Rammed Earth

Ancient, unengineered construction using compacted earth. Relies on mass alone, with no insulation or defined strength standards. Generally unsuitable for modern regulated buildings.

SRE, Stabilized Rammed Earth

Often marketed as modern rammed earth. Uses cement, lime, or other binders to improve strength and cohesion, but remains mass-based and typically uninsulated. Commonly used as infill or veneer rather than a complete structural envelope.

SIRE, Structural Insulated Rammed Earth

An engineered technical phase of rammed earth construction that integrates structural rammed earth wythes with continuous insulation and reinforcement to form a complete building envelope. SIRE systems are engineered to meet or exceed compressive strengths of 20 MPa, approximately 3000 psi.

What Sets SIREWALL Apart

4 key things separate SIREWALL from other rammed earth providers. Not all rammed earth is alike.

Many other features make us the best rammed earth on the planet - check out SIREWALL features for more details.

Strength

3000+ psi

That means SIREWALL is a structural component of your building, high-seismic ready, freeze/thaw ready, doesn’t need to be sealed, and can be built below grade.

We won’t build anything less than 3000 psi.
In comparison, lower-strength rammed earth systems come in at 700 - 1000 psi.

Texture, Finish and Details

A 600 micron finish

We can deliver smooth, high-end finished on our rammed earth walls that create exception finishes for living and working environments.

Other rammed earth tends to be rough and not pleasant to live with in close proximity.

Start to Finish Services

Services to support you from planning, engineering, and permits, through to completing SIREWALL installations at the highest level.

Many of the projects you see on this site were designed and built by industry professionals working with SIREWALL for the first time.

More than 35 years experience in High-Performance Rammed Earth Projects

We help architects, engineers, contractors, and owner-builders execute extraordinary rammed earth projects with less risk and better outcomes. Through consulting, mix design, training, project support, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, SIREWALL helps teams move from vision to execution with greater clarity and confidence.

We help reduce costly mistakes, improve buildability, and support the strength, durability, and long-term performance that serious projects demand.

Extensive Experience in North America and Worldwide

SIREWALL has been in business for 35 years and we have been fortunate enough to have built on 5 continents, and many places around the United States.

SIREWALL project located on a world map with black location markers across various countries, primarily in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

SIREWALL is to Rammed Earth what a Tesla is to a horse and buggy.

(it is an analogy - we don’t necessarily endorse Tesla)

It’s the evolution of an ancient craft into a high-performance building system.
